| The extrusion process means that synthetic materials are continuously pressed through a special forming tool. The parts take shape by the cross-section of the tool and can be produced in various lengths. The possible production tolerances are no more than ± 0.05 mm. At first, the synthetic material is melted and homogenized by an extruder via heating and inner friction. Furthermore, the necessary pressure is built up to make the synthetic material flow through the tool. The synthetic material stiffens after entering a water-cooled calibration. By means of extrusion, pipes and profiles can constantly be produced above the crosscut length. Plastic containers, such as bottles, cylindrical-shaped containers or fuel tanks are also produced by means of extrusion. Imprints and press cuts can be produced, as well as hard-soft combinations, e.g. lip seals, can also be made with a 2-component co-extrusion process. Products of the extrusion technique can be found in the following applications: - Building construction and civil engineering High-precision and reliable tools are indispensable in the production of profiles.
